These photos are taken at the Marlette Lake aid station for the Tahoe Rim Trail Run in 2012. This is a 50k, 50 mile and 100 mile foot race along parts of the Tahoe Rim Trail around Marlette Lake and Spooner Summit area.

Ham radio operators maintain a 2-meter net for health and safety of the runners, and for 'house-keeping' communications for the aid stations. It's pretty standard for the hams to coordinate the evacuation of at lezst 1 or 2 runners over the course of the race, usually for exhaustion.

This year's theme was "A glimpse of Heaven, a taste of Hell"
